The waste that came to life: A unique exhibition at OC Tulip in Martin

From August 1 to 31, 2025, visitors to OC Tulip in Martin will have the rare opportunity to experience an extraordinary art exhibition made from approximately 10,000 old mobile phones and electronic waste. The project, Velikáni, ktorí pomáhajú aj po smrti (Giants who help even after death), now in its sixth year, is drawing attention nationwide.

What is the “Giants Who Help Even After Death” Project?

This innovative project is led by Mobilonline, a company dedicated to raising awareness about e-waste and supporting green initiatives. In collaboration with renowned Slovak artist Jozef Stančík, 12 large-scale artworks were created from discarded mobile phones and electronics, which would have otherwise ended up in landfills.

The resulting series, which honors major figures from history who left a lasting legacy, is now touring Slovakia. These works feature personalities such as Albert Einstein, Frida Kahlo, Mahatma Gandhi, Pelé, Nikola Tesla, Marilyn Monroe, Milan Rastislav Štefánik, and Steve Jobs. These figures, symbolically helping “even after death,” represent not just historical icons but also the materials of the art itself.

A Message for Everyone

The exhibition carries an important message: even what many consider worthless can be transformed into something meaningful. With creativity and vision, an old mobile phone becomes part of a grand story.

For Mobilonline, this project aligns with its long-standing commitment to supporting e-waste recycling, device trade-ins, and reintroducing products into circulation.

Once the exhibition concludes its tour across Slovakia, all the artworks will be auctioned. The proceeds will be donated to nonprofit organizations or used to support additional environmental projects focused on sustainability and environmental protection.

Why Visit This Exhibition?

  • The exhibition is the only one of its kind in Slovakia, available for viewing live at OC Tulip in Martin.
  • After August 31, the exhibition will move to another city and will not return to this shopping center.
  • The artworks are visually striking and carry an important ecological message.
  • Ideal for all age groups, the exhibition also serves as an educational activity for schools and families with children.
  • Entry is free, and visitors can enjoy the art during the shopping center’s operating hours.

So, are you ready to see history, technology, and sustainability come together in a single exhibition? Don’t miss it!
